Join me for a creative journey into the world of urban sketching & painting, where everyday scenes become expressive works of art. In this foundation course, you’ll discover simple, approachable techniques for sketching & painting anything from small everyday objects to complex city buildings and turning them into memorable keepsakes.
Materials needed: A4 sketchbook, pencil 2B, eraser, waterproof fine liner pens, watercolour /
gauche (black, white, red, blue, yellow), brushes round.
Explore a range of sketching styles from realistic to expressive and minimalistic. Warm up sketching exercises to loosen the hand and train observation skills.
Learn the basics of perspective and sketch & paint a building from a front view using one-point perspective
Understand how to approach buildings at an angle and sketch & paint a structure in two-point perspective
Learn how to place people naturally within an urban scene.
Understand scale, overlaps, and depth.
Practice observing and sketching seated figures.
Capture gestures, posture, and the atmosphere of a lively setting
Create a complete urban sketch of your choice.
Apply all the skills learned throughout the course in one cohesive piece
The courses include drawing, fine liner sketching, watercolour and mixed media.
You will need pencil, watercolour sketchpad with thick 300gsm paper, medium fine liner,
watercolours (recommend Windsor & Newton 12 colour pan), round brush no. 8.
